The Purpose Behind Our Work
LCRI was formed to ensure that experienced legal support is available when government action creates risk for nonprofit organizations and communities. We bring together attorneys with backgrounds in litigation, regulatory work, and public policy to respond quickly when issues arise.
Our work is focused on protecting the institutions and communities that people rely on, and ensuring that legal decisions are challenged when they fall outside the law.
When [grant awards documents] were released earlier this year with new conditions that seemed problematic to me, I knew the steps to take, thanks to the training provided by [LCRI]. [LCRI] provided expert guidance to me and my board as we navigated responding to these new conditions.

Supporting Rhode Island Communities and Organizations
LCRI delivers legal support to nonprofits and communities through coordinated advocacy, litigation, and training. This work is carried out in part through the Nonprofit Legal Protection Project (NLPP), which provides legal guidance, training, and representation to organizations facing funding disruptions, policy changes, and regulatory challenges.

Organizations Represented in Rhode Island
Rhode Island nonprofits, municipalities, unions and community organizations represented by LCRI.
The Lawyers’ Committee for Rhode Island has been an invaluable partner to Crossroads, giving us the legal expertise and support to stand up for the proven housing solutions our clients depend on. Amy, Kevin and the LCRI team understand both the law and what is at stake for organizations like ours, and, most importantly, for the people we serve. Their representation has helped ensure that our voice is heard when critical resources and programs are threatened.
